We Teach, We Learn, We Grow

This blog will document my personal journey in becoming an academic researcher and improving my practice as an innovative, creative interdisciplinary teacher educator.

Welcome: Thirty Years in the Making

I knew in grade 10 that my vocation was to become a music teacher. Thirty years later, I can say it has been the most rewarding professional pathway. In reflecting on my journey from educator to academic, I have two passions. The first is preparing K to 12 students for the future through the development of their global citizenship competencies, arts integration with the Orff Schulwerk approach. This work naturally extends to my second love: preparing pre-service teachers to facilitate student-led learning experiences that embody empathy, interconnectedness, and the acceptance of cultural diversity.

This blog will document my personal journey in becoming an academic researcher and improving my practice as an innovative, creative interdisciplinary teacher educator. Central to this journey is my desire to bridge the gap between theory that connects global citizenship, arts integration, and Orff Schulwerk and best practices for implementation in a school setting. To make this tangible, each post will include a lesson plan to model interdisciplinary integration; ideas and strategies you can take right back to your classroom. Until next time
